Just got my first ENO setup - looking forward to Spring!

Hey everybody. Long time lurker of hammockforums, first time poster. I've always loved hammocks. Practically lived in one on my friends porch in Brazil for 6 months.

But just got my first hammock for camping/hiking. I live here in NY, and Spring can't come soon enough! :-)

I got the ENO DN w the Atlas straps, the guardian bug net & the profly tarp. I know everyone here is big on whoopie slings, and I may try them down the road, but for now I went with the ENO Atlas straps cause they are poly & don't stretch like the nylon slap straps.

After reading alot on this forum, I went with the DN over the SN cause I'm 6'4" tall and weigh 230lbs and felt the DN would be best.

I plan to do a lot of Catskills and white mountain trips this spring and then head out west later this summer. Then overseas towards the end of the year with a long trip to New Zealand.

Looking forward to posting lots of pics and asking lots of questions here.

    Cheers!

The DN is a great first choice hammock. I still have one for my son. Very comfy. And I was out last summer, struggling to find decent trees for my suspension when my friends were able to make a crazy reach w those Atlas Straps. So good on you all round. Be sure to share some pics when you make your first outing!

Thanks Monk. Will do. Seems like the DN was a lot of people's first hammock here. What hammock you using now? Have you converted totally to hammocks? Or do you still tent it every once in awhile? What part of the country you camping in?

That was pretty much my first set up as well. Served me well. First thing I changed was the suspension to whoopies and then on from there Good luck with your rig and keep us posted on how it all works out for you. Welcome to the forum!!

Welcome to hammock camping! ENO is the only hammock I own. There are many people who have multiple hammocks but I find ENO to be super comfortable and see no need for another one. One of my first mods was switching to whoopies b/c of being able to dial in the perfect length for your suspension.

Something you may want to do that will make your life a lot simpler is to add a structural ridge line to your hammock. You will get the same lay in it every time.

Thanks for the welcome Path. Yeah, I do look forward to adding a structural ridge line & possibly other mods as I get some trips under my belt this Spring & figure out what works best for me. Until then, the ENO bags are just teasing me on top of my desk lol.

Welcome to the forum. I'm new too. I went out and purchased an ENO DN and paired it with Kammock Python tree straps. I also have the ENO bugnet and Hot Spot pad extender. The DN is super comfy and I don't see myself buying another hammock for some time. I want to finish pimpn' out the ENO DN first... I've been getting into the DIY mindset and think I want to make a tarp, UQ and TQ at some point for the ENO
