What cord do you use with the Hennessy lashing?

Hi all, I was wondering what cord is good for the Hennessy lashing. Also, would amsteel work? I already have some old whoopie slings that broke, and I was wondering if I could cut off the loop than heat seal it. Would I be able to use it with the Hennessy lashing?
    Thanks,
    LazyCamper.

If I understand your question correctly, I'm under the belief that amsteel would be difficult to untie a "Hennessy lashing" (figure eight knot) as it is much smaller in diameter than the Hennessy supplied cord.

If you are replacing the suspension, you can't get much simpler than a cinch buckle and webbing. I've got my HHED set This way. You throw the end loop with caribiner around the tree, pull a bit of the webbing, wrap the other tree and adjust the sag/center and you are done.

I use the HH lashing all the time with Amsteel whoopies when attaching to my hammock stand. Works just fine so far for me, but slippery as all get out so be sure to finish with a couple of 1/2 hitches.
