I've been using a knife handle lately, ( with a flat pommel) Before that I used a small square of plywood and pressed down on it using my feet. I don't mind the knife, but if the ground is a bit hard, or the sheath is uncomfortable to hold around, you'll get dangerously close to stabbing yourself in the face. I've seen this come close to happening a lot. And it's always the same guy... I should probably tell him to stop
I usually find a rock or the plastic mallet that one of my sons is carrying
A drunk underage driver - she's got to be real cute. jk. I press mine in by hand.
I like big hammocks - I cannot like.
I lean down and use my fivehead. Very effective, but I often have a headache afterwards. J/k (kinda) I use the heel of my hand, failing that a boot, failing that a larger heavier thing.

me hit with rock
Since I'm too fat to hike and hence do car camping, I carry my CS Trailhawk everywhere. It's half hatchet/half hammer, so I'm sorted. It also goes along with my SAK (Swiss Army Knife) mentallity. One item, multiple uses. Pretty much everything I carry follows this.

I can only afford to live free.
Anything else cost far too much.
Hatchet used for firewood.
My foot, very carefully I worry about hurting myself.
As a little kid my cousins and I discovered what we could do with a rock. One day, we found some nails, then one of the twins decided we should use a rock to pound the nails into the wooden porch. Hum, two sets of twin, three more kids all really close in age, nails and rocks, why we decided to pound the nails into the porch I have no idea. Every time I pick up a rock to pound something into the ground I remember how much fun we had pounding in nails.
