    Hardware for tarp

I am using a Figure 9 for my tarp. I don't like knots. My question is, do you prefer Figure 9s or the Dutch hardware? Thanks for any insight.

    Hardware for tarp

Gadgets are cool but master knots. A few simple knots well learned will always be there. Gadget break, get lost or left at home. There are lots of apps as well as YouTube.

Dutch. And you will never regret it. They never break, and there always in place on your line. If you have your tarp you have your Dutch gear. Quick and easy setup.

Both my fig 9's bent in 2 weeks.

Dutch's tarp Flyz have done over a year at 80f to -40f and hold far better on thinner line.

I'll leave you to draw your own conclusion.

    Re: Hardware for tarp

Dutch stuff is great, VERY strong and super light. But I agree that you should know the knots you need if your hardware fails... but it shouldn't fail.

I had some figure 9s and didn't like them and they felt flimsy. Got some dutch flyz and they are amazing, very solid and holds the line really well. I always felt the figure 9s needed a back up knot in case they failed, but I have never thought that with the flyz. Thank heavens for Dutchware!

Dutchware is amazing stuff. I used Figure 9's before Dutch came along and everything was on the point of failure. Dutch rocks!

    Knots are Great

Knots are great to know. However, after a longggg day of hiking and the weather turns to freezing, having Dutchware is a lifesaver.

There were several times on the AT, where after hiking 20 + miles in freezing weather, and/or high winds, I had to give up trying to hang for the night and sleep in a shelter.

Today, everything makes it easier. Cord that is light, doesn't get it a mess & tangled. Dutchware, & some great tips from Sgt Rock that I picked up from one of his video's.

There's other hardware that will work as well. However, I love how light, strong, and the price of Dutchware. Well worth the money IMHO.
