    Hello from Kentucky

I've been snooping around this site learning from everyone. I plan to cycle the Natchez trace this fall and decided hammock camping is the way to go. Since I ordered my first hammock last night, I had to become an official member. I have already learned so much, like how to tie knots, and how great the hammock cottage industry is. Thanks for the help you have already provided.

I'm close to Louisville myself, only about 10 minutes away in Mt Washington.

    Re: Hello from Kentucky

I really don't have a lot experience hiking anywhere. I'm more into cycling. I'm hoping to start doing more hiking this year though. Jefferson memorial isn't too far from me. That is one of my training rides I plan to make. I plan to ride my bike there do some hiking, camp one night, and ride back home the next day. I would like to do more hiking but my family doesn't want to hike, and I don't really know anyone to hike with.

I'm a cyclist as well...used to race on the road until a crash, shoulder surgery followed by a bad case of Lyme disease intervened. I used to do regular training rides in JMF (great climbs there), but mostly hike there now. I'll PM you the next time we plan a hike there.

Welcome from west Kentucky. If you time your trip right you hang with the Mid Tenn bunch at Merriweather Lewis. We had 20 something hangers at the winter hang. Neo puts on a hang every season. hope you can join us.

    Enjoy!!!
