Don't fight it. Just enjoy it.

Don't argue with the alligator until after you cross the river.

My wife looks at it this way. "The bills are always paid, we're debt free and he doesn't spend his nights out gambling, womanizing, drinking, etc."

"If buying gear makes him happy, then have all the gear you want. There's a lot worse he could be out doing."

......and she likes to play with all the gear too.

Re: Does it ever get better?

I'm pretty new into hammocks and every month the obsession gets deeper. The upfront cost was the worst tho. Hammock, tq, uq, tarp. Then I needed camping gear, backpack and clothes. Dutch doesn't make it easy either. I had been putting off getting anything from him, but I recently needed a cinch buckle. Then while I'm getting something let me go on and get this, and this, and this... I can't wait for that package.

Then you still want more and stumble into the diy section. First you make an alcohol stove. Then another and another until you realize you know have a stove obsession too. I'm planning on making a couple today. Still eyeing a dehydrater.

Oh but then you want to make more, time for a thread injector. I just acquired one and its getting serviced. Should be ready tomorrow.
Yeah so after all that, all I can say is good luck
