I have/had the Mamajamba and superfly and the both rock but if you are trying to save weight, then look at the WL tadpole.
The tadpole is very close to the same size as a Mamajamba and the new camo tadpole is 10.5 oz... It's a gram counters dream....

I have the Mamajamba and love it. If you are looking to really save weight then go with a HammockGear Cuben tarp. Their large 12 ft Winter Palace is a whooping 8oz.

The day I got my Mamajamba a snow storm hit while I was testing it in the back yard. It did fine

I use the Mamajamba and if I need a door I use my dri-ducks poncho by buttoning one side across my ridge and the other side hangs down perfectly.

Superfly is the best all around tarp out there in my opinion. Get it and be happy...

I've wondered about this topic...being new to hanging I've thought about how secure I'd feel just out there hanging in space with just a tarp. Coming from tents, I kind enjoyed the ostrich with it's head in the sand mentality...if I can't see them, they can't see me...I think a tarp with doors will help with that but at the same time I'm trying to knock down the pack size/weight.

    Re: Mamajamba Question

There is a reason the Superfly is the most popular hammock tarp around... And that's because you won't find a better deal for the coverage... And they don't come up for sale very much either... And when they do they sell quicker than ice cream melts in the desert...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

While I have 2 tarps with doors (HG Winter Palace and WL Old Man Winter), I have never deployed them when raining and so far I have stayed dry. Just luckly I guess but I am glad I have them just in case. I also own and use a Mamajamba
