Are you going to get him his own hammock, or just have him crawl in with you?

Awesome reason to go to ground!

Not sure yet. I have a hammock and tarp he can use, but my wife is nervous about him not being right there with me. I've got a Blackbird which is pretty roomy, but I'm a big guy myself and take up quite a bit of that room.
Thinking I'll do the three tree triangle setup, with us sharing a tree at the head end.
Great Job. That is one of the best reasons to go to ground. Way to spend some quality time with him.

Great job Pop! My 2 and 4 yr olds tent camp, but they have started asking to camp in the hammock (yes!). Now there's a little more pressure to finish those JCP puffer jacket UQ's!
Great post. My two youngest (8 & 10) have been excited about hanging so we've built some slings and can't wait to try 'em out. Time with the little ones...AWESOME!

Sounds like a great time. My son loves "camping" in the backyard with me. He recently caught me eyeing Papasmurfs website and asked me if I was ordering his hammock. I guess time spent on the ground in the yard pays dividends.
My son started scouting this year, and I am his tiger leader... I swore off ground dwelling a couple years ago, but needed to go to ground to be with him... Paid off in truck loads for our relationship... I still hang when we go as a family and solo, but really enjoy being in the tent with him...
I loved this story. The good news is... it just gets better and better.
I camped with my boys when they were little. One is coming home from the Army in May for three weeks. He wants to know where we're going to go backpacking. I'm counting the days.
He is your friend, your companion, your defender... he is your dog. You are his life, his leader, and master. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of that devotion.
