Does anyone else get numb, sore heels when sleeping in a gathered-end hammock? The numbness seems to kick in around mid-morning and disturbs my sleep.
Any solutions? Perhaps a stretchier fabric, or a pillow under the knees?

I've experienced some soreness on occasion but never any numbness. Not sure it has anything to do with a gathered end hammock but then I've never slept in any other kind!
I get it occassionally in my sunroom hammock if I don't have a pillow under the knees. longer hammocks tend to alleviate that issue somewhat
Baka Dasai,
What are you using for a hammock?
A longer hammock with an appropriate level of sag was effective in making my feet more comfortable for the entire night. Alternatively, a section of closed cell foam under your feet and lower legs might help by moderating pressure points.
Good luck

I have it in summer when I try and quit using a foot pad for insulation. I pretty much use a foot pad all year around now.

Mine dont get numb but have woke up with really bad pain in my heels. I have an eno and think the length has a lot to do with it. I try to make sure the sag is right and my foot end is higher. That seems to help but will still have some discomfort. I am looking to buy/diy a 11 to 12 footer for this reason.

This is one of the reasons I move to a bridge hammock as this is a very painful phenomenon that I can't eliminate in a gathered end hammock.
My hammock Achilles heel are my heels as well. Lately I've been using a partially inflated Exped pillow that fits quite nicely in the foot box of my top quilt. It provides more cushion and also helps keep my heels apart. What seems to bother me most is when my heels press together. Since I've been using the pillow my heel issues have disappeared. With it in the foot box of the quilt it doesn't shift or move either. Weighs 3 ounces. That's 85 grams in Aussie reckoning!
Yes, had the same problem, or still have it in summer. When its cool, I use a down pillow under my feet. Started using it for cushioning to alleviate the numbness, which it worked great for that. Side benefit was that it kept my feet warmer than the down booties I was using. I've tried using other cushions, pads, inflatable pillows, etc., and nothing has worked nearly as well. I do also use a knee pillow and there's something to be said for how that can alleviate some heel pressure, too.

That is really the main reason I use a Thermarest sit pad slightly delfated. Like it under my heels. My feet have been abused by my active life.
