    Smile Walk in the Park

Got to get out this weekend with 3 of the 4 and do an easy 3.5 mile hike. Trying to see how much they can handle. They really want to go on some backpacking trips with me and the misses but I'm worried about the long hikes, so each weekend I've been taking them on longer and longer hikes. So far, they could run circles around me. Next time will be 5 miles.

Went ahead and suited up my pack with the base weight. Had to test out the shoulder strap; had to repair it from a rip on the last trip. FYI, Seat belt webbing is an awesome material for repairing shoulder straps.

Modified my External Frame to hold my GoPro, set back about 18" off the frame and about 4" higher. Used some thin-walled 3/4" pvc with some conduit mounts. Only added an ounce or two to the pack weight. Tossed the Gopro on time lapse and let it shoot the whole hike. Here is a few of the shots it took. Was a good day. Kids had a blast. They want hammocks now too..haha

You will never spend enough time with them. Sayeth the old Dad.

You're a lucky man! I enjoy every minute I have with my boys (3 & 7) outside. Getting ready for a "Finding Bigfoot" adventure with my older son. He's hooked on the show and wants to give it a shot. Not entirely sure yet what we will do if we come across one though...

Thanks for sharing your good time with us!

Thanks, yeah they pretty much love all things camping related so far. Its priceless to find something between me and them that we are all passionate about. As they grow older it gets harder and harder to still be the #1 person they want to hang out with. Luckily, they really, really love to get out and backpack. Been cherishing every mile of it. I just hope they never loose interest in it.
