    Button Holes

Can anyone give me some advice or point me in the direction on how to learn button hole sewing. I want to try implementing them on my stuff sacs but I cant seem to get it right. This is out of the realm of my g/fs knowledge so I am trying to do this on my own and it is too tough for my skill set.

    Thanks!

Are you sewing them by hand? Buttonholes are very easy to do by hand, but just faster by machine. If its by machine the process varies based off of which machine you're using.

Many machines will have an attachment and setting for this. But you can always fake it with a very close zig-zag stitch on either side of the slit you'll be cutting for the button, the machine function & attachment just help you do this neatly.

    Great tutorial link, Lorax.

That is exactly how ya do a button hole!

If you're machine doesn't have all them there fancy knobs, you may have to play with your settings a bit. If you're doing it by hand, it may take a bit longer, but still the same principle.

    Awesome thanks a lot everyone.

That tutorial is excellent lorax. Unfortunately I do not have that "guiding doohikey thing", but that doesn't seem absolutely necessary.

I do have the knob adjustment on this TI, IDK I guess I was doing it almost properly, just need some practice to nail everything down.

Looking at the tutorial they have their stitches very close together. I believe I had mine some where in the middle of tight and loose. I am going to adjust that and try it now. Also my stopping and ending points were off. Good to know!

Buttonhole zig zags should be small 1/16-1/8" wide and very close together. Ideally you want a satin sort of look. But for gear that hardly matters.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
