I really like my synthetic camp pillow, but find I never take it with me backpacking due to the bulk. Lately I've really dugged using my Stoic dry stuff sac with just bary some air sealed into it. Super comfy and multipurpose!

When thro' the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain gardeur,
And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze...
I have a polyester massage pillow from my ex(she was a massage therapist) and maaaan...this thing is huge but compacts down to NOTHING.
The syntactical nature of reality, the real secret of magic, is that the world is made of words. And if you know the words that the world is made of, you can make of it whatever you wish.

Nick's Hi-Tech Pressure Washing
I, too, use the inflatable Wallyworld pillow with the blue shag polyester on the outside...not bad.
What I really enjoy is the JCP puffer TQ in it's stuffsack when I first go to sleep. When it gets cold enough at night to wake me up, I find it is no big deal to pull it out and get under it and I don't notice the lack of a pillow that late at night.

I use the "Total Pillow" ,although; I don't use it for my head or neck i use it to put under my knees , I love it.
This what I use. It packs down really small.

Another WM inflatable user. Like samsara only inflate half way. Use mine every night.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
I have my JCP down vest stuffed in the sewn-up sleeve from a JCP down jacket that is now my UQ. It's just the right size, it packs easy & light, and I can put the vest on if I get too cold (though that hasn't happened but once).

Lukes Ultralite down pillow
I had Paul at AHE make me a Snoring Bear pillow with only 3" of loft. I tried it for the first time last weekend and It was perfect. I don't think I will be looking for another pillow for a while.
I started with a Thermarest but couldn't find an efficient method of keeping it from falling out of the hammock. Now I have an ENO propack pillow[1]. Yeah, it's bulky but it makes up for that with an integrated stuff sack/compression strap that's the perfect length to clip over my ridge line and still fit comfortably under my head. No pillow on the ground.
[1] The first ENO product that comes right out of the box (so to speak) ready to use and not requiring any mods that I've run across so far.
If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid.
