Walmart Ozark Trails Down Sleeping Bag

I came across this tonight and just had to pick it up. It is rated at 32 degrees and 90% duck down and 10% feathers. It weighs 1.5lbs and is 85x30x20. I am 6'0 250lbs and fit in this bag. It is somewhat tight but I can still turn on my side inside the bag and the bag unzips almost completely leaving the footbox. My thought is I can unzip it and use it as a top quilt or still use it as a sleeping bag. It was 79.95 at Walmart. I thought it was a pretty decent deal.

I'll be very interested to follow this and see if this can truly be a budget three season top quilt. Of course the trade off is a little weight but it's still lighter than a lot of synthetics and surely packs down smaller.

Needless to say, as a hammock hanger on a budget I'm hoping this works well.

I'll let you know how it works out when I get a chance to use it. 1.5 lbs is ultralight for me when I have been using a millitary sleep system. I'm definitely the hanger on a budget type. I bought four of the JcPenney puffer coats at 20each so they are going back to justify the cost of the new bag.

Can you put it on a set of scales to verify the weight? I'm now subscribed.

I don't have a set of digital scales... maybe I can put it on my standard scales and see if it registers

Yea that's an interesting find. I have been using the green patrol bag as a top quilt but I think that weighs a lot more that this bag, so I'll be following this thread.

Just checked my Walmart and they had 2 of them.
However, they have them packed up in their compression sacks.
I noted the delivery date to the store was December of 2012.

Anyone thinks the down being compressed for so long would be an issue?
