Kids got me one of these for fathers day

Hearts were in the right place for sure!

I took it into the shop and started fixing the issues it had right away.

There was this Zipper thing on it... And a Hood.

Well those are in process of removal now. Should have a functional Summer Top Quilt Soon. I will post Pictures of before and After tonight or tomorrow.

I can't wait to see the result. I have one of these as well and have had similar thoughts about converting it, though I lack the skill set to pull it off...

Looking forward to seeing the result. I noticed that my hood is super puffy and would make a great hat if I had the thread injector skills. Haven't done any modifications yet, because I'm still thinking that I may need it in sleeping bag mode someday.

Mine is the same way. The hood is really puffy, the rest, not so much.

I am anxious to hear your results. I bought 4 bags with the intent to return 2 in case some were better than others. I was buying one for me and one for the wife. Now I am thinking of making one a TQ and one an UQ.

As a side note when I ordered online the price for the bag was $69.95 or something like that. But they had a "special" that included the bag and a self inflating pad for $69.00. I decided that I'll take the self inflating pad and save the extra $0.95. I really did not want the pad but I am cheap and wanted the extra $0.95.

When I placed the order the listed the bag at $51.35 and the pad at $17.65 or something like that. I might see if I can just return the pad.
    FYI.

    I did the Modifications

    Zipper Removed

There was a Black lip of material I rolled over and sewed along the sides where the Zipper Used to be.

    Removed the draft collar

    Removed the Hood

Did not get real good Pics but here they are.

    Before any work

    Full View Before work

Stuff that came off the Bag

This MUST be what that Hood was sewn on for...

Side by Side with a Modified 30 degree Synthetic bag of same nature

Full View of Zipper Gone and no Hood

Another View showing the foot box

Top where the Hood used to be

Total Weight of Bag - 1lb 4.2 Oz (That might have been with the Compression Sack now that I think of it)

The only thing I am going to do now is sew on a Micro Fleece Draft Collar at the Top of the Bag for Neck Comfort.

I did not take my sweet time with this and I fought off my OCD's so it probably could have turned out better.

I've had the UQ idea too... looking forward to hearing from others that have given this a try.

Like the hood... I'll have to get into mine like that, make my sleeping outfit match!
