Sorry about your experiences with this bag. I've been very pleased, but I would never try to get it near 40 degrees. And it won't get warmer if you convert it, unless you also overstuff it, as well... And even that will have it's limitations because of the existing baffle height.

With that said, you can find instructions for converting it to a TQ right here in this thread... Somewhere...

I've used it as a DIY converted TQ with a 20 degree UQ, a top cover on my WBBB, wearing 1 base layer, in 20 degree weather, and stayed toasty warm.
I've gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, make sure I stay here.

I got one of these bags on clearance earlier this year and got the chance to use it last week at Virgin Falls in TN. Low for the night was supposed to be 60*, but our site in a valley near the waterfall was a good 10-15* cooler than that with high humidity and a constant breeze. I used a blue pad from walmart with a cocoon 250. I had one thermal pants and a couple of thin synthetic shirts. My legs and feet stayed toasty warm. My upper body was a little cooler than I prefer, but not enough to keep me from getting a good night's sleep. If I hadn't forgotten my fleece pullover at home, I think it would have been about perfect. I'm pretty impressed with this bag for how little I paid.

I recently bought and used a mummy style 0 degree bag from Ozark trails and have slept in it twice down to 40 degrees in my hammock. I was very comfortable both nights staying very warm.

Has this bag been discontinued? I can't find it anywhere.

Because it is a cold weather sleeping bag, most Walmarts have taken them off the shelves for the summer. Probably look for it in the fall as it starts to get cooler.

You might check eBay too. I have also seen some Chinese versions but can't vouch for their quality.

I'm of the opinion this has been entirely discontinued. It has disappeared from the shelves here in the Central Valley of California, where a bag of this weightis appropriate year-round. It stayed on the shelves year-round once it was introduced until it vanished earlier this year...

That is what I'm thinking OneEye. Even seasonal itemscan be found online year round. It's nowhere.

There are a number of duck down sleeping bags on EBay. Just make sure it meets your specs and seller has a good rating (read their reviews).

Here is a similar bag for $70:
