OK, I went back and took all 4 out to better inspect them. 2 had very little down, 1 had a little more but 1 appeared to have a even amount throughout. I unzipped and looked at the ceiling lights thru the bags. I'm washing it with my REI bag now and plan to test tonight. The zipper is a lot lighter than the REI bag but "feels" OK. But that's no big deal since I may convert it to a TQ anyway.

So I finally got to test out the bag in my new WBRR. I was camping at a Cub Scout Leader campout/ planning meeting. The temp reached 38 degrees. I started out in my midweight Rocky Mountain Thermals, wool socks and the bag as a top quilt with a sleep pad and reflectix underneath. at around 2am I started to get cold in my lower back. I put on my Kohl's puffer jacket, almost identical to the 650 fill JCP puffer, and was warm and toasty the rest of the nght.

The wife and I used ours again this weekend and last for Cub Adventure weekend. Got down into the low 20's last week. We had a little CBS but that turned out due to poor setup on my part. Had the UQs on with a litle sag. Enough for wind to get in and heat to get out. Got down into the low 30s this weekend with nasty storms and we were both warm all night. Love these little things.

I broke down and bought one today, for a total of 1 lb 9 oz weight, if it works out at $79 it can't be beat. The cheapest competition I can find is a 20* Kelty for $97 and it weighs 15 oz's more. We'll see if this one will work well enough for me till I can get the Western Mountaineering bag I want.

I picked one up this morning. I opened up 3 of them in the store and did the scientific hold-up-to-the-light test and found 2 of the 3 to have fairly sizable gaps in the top fill while the 3rd looked consistently filled. I guess they might get evened out with the tennis ball in the dryer move, but anyway might be worth taking a few minutes to check your options before picking one.

Tennis balls in the dryer fluffed mine up nicely.

    1st Use

I washed it the day of purchase and left it on a spare bed for several days after distributing the down. Packed it in a small stuff sack the day before and slept with it as a TQ along with my wilderness logics ssuq, more than enough for the 41* night last night in AR.It will go much lower.

The bottom side of my bag seems to loft up much nicer than the top.
Maybe I just need to throw it in the dryer first but I found that odd.

I purchased two of these. One from Walmart, and one from eBay for $57 shipped. Thanks for all the suggestions on these. I will toss them in the dryer and hang them up until needed for our AT section hike this fall.
