Im hoping it will change before the hike ,but its not looking good right now.
My thoughts will be with you anyway.
Hairbear, Very sorry to hear that you are having back issues. I wish you well and hope that your recovery is swift. Be sure not to push yourself give your back time to recover completely before you venture out.

Once you are feeling better let me know and I would be happy to revisit this hike with you or any other that you have in mind.

Gideon this was going to be a chance to say so long to you,im sorry that wont happen. I will tell you here what I would have said to you on the hike.
The company that has hired you is very lucky to get you. You have so many qualities that I wish that I found in myself, but alas these seem to be beyond my reach.
You are a wonderful father,Pyro was very lucky to be born your son.
Your faith is inspiring making you a very patient person with people, thanks for your patience with my wilder nature.
We have not been friends long ,but the impact you have had on me will last a long time,if ever you would need me I would be there for you without question.
I admire your courage to reach out for greater gain after having the security of the same job for a long time,im sure you will soon gain favor with your new employer.
Thank you for encouraging me on my d i y stuff, you were alway a support.
Ive also enjoyed your sons company greatly, the young man that your input has made him shines like the sun on the water,he will go far,and be another compasionate life force. The world needs more of this quality.
I will miss you my friend ,this is where I would give you a big brotherly hug wishing you the best.
We will see one another again one day im sure .
    Love ya man

    Thursday night?

We are gonna come down Thursday evening & was gonna stay at Taum Sauk campground until I saw it cost $13. Any suggestion on where to hang Thursday evening close to Taum Sauk?

I don't know if you wanted to hike to a spot Thursday night, but there is a rustic campsite on the OT just below Mina Sauk Falls. It's a little over a mile from the Taum Sauk trailhead.

ok, so I was all packed and ready to go, as I leave for a week of work in Chicago. Everything loaded food, fuel and water (1/2 liter) 15 pounds total. I was very pleased, then the Ridgerunner/bugnet version showed up in the mail today.... oh! all my superlight weight hammock plans out the window- I laid in the ridgerunner with my 40 degree TQ and UQ and just about fell asleep in the set up process... must have it... must bring it.
So I am 16 1/2 pounds fully loaded. If I can lose a few pounds this week on my middle I will compensate....
