Just a reminder since I can't change the outdated info in the first post anymore...
THE PLAN
I cant edit the first post anymore, so here's the updated plan...
Friday 8am: Meet at the Taum Sauk Mountain parking lot. Pile into a few cars and drive to the hwy A trailhead to start our hike.
Here's a map that shows the Taum Sauk lot and directions to the HWY A trailhead lot:

It looks like if we camp where I want to camp, we'll be doing aprox. 11 miles on day one, 7 miles on day two, and 12 miles on day 3.
Day 1: Hwy A to Walker Branch. There is a nice site with a fire ring there, and there should be water in the branch.
Day 2: Walker Branch to Johnson Shut Ins for Lunch, to the Scour. The Scour is a cool place to hang...neat view of the valley and the reservoir.
Day 3: The Scour to Taum Sauk Mt.. This will be a long day, but we'll see some cool stuff like Mina Sauk Falls and Devil's Tollgate.
A few notes about the terrain... There is every possible kind of surface along this trail. Mud, gravel, grass, dirt, moss, large boulders that you have to climb up, and several creek crossings (including the Black River). You name it, we'll walk on it. Choose your shoes/boots accordingly.
Water was plentiful...hopefully that will be the case when we go.
There are many areas where you are in the sun for a long time. Sunscreen is suggested.
With beauty all around you, may you walk.
Just to update I had planned on heading out on Thursday and Hike Bell Mt. with Hairbear, however with Hairbear being out of commission right now I will be meeting up with everyone else at the Taum Sauk Mountain parking lot at 8:00 A.M. on Friday.
Hairbear, you and I can hike Bell Mt. when you are feeling better or we can do whatever hike you have in mind. You will be missed on this hike, relax and have a beer or two this weekend.
The make up hike sounds good to me. Ill be grumpy this weekend with the disapointment of not being there, but if someone puts something green by the fire somehow ill be amongst you. Just think someone else will have to be the smoke eater on this hike.
Thanks for the call the other night digitizer,it really cheered me up.
