Do you enjoy the taste of percolated coffee over any other? I think it is a neat set up and good video, but if you wanted to reduce pack weight you could switch to Starbucks VIA or some other premium instant espresso over the weight of the percolator set up. You have to start somewhere

I'm in for this one. Will just have to figure out where I can meet up with the group. Would like to meet up on Friday night but not sure that will be possible. Not sure how far the group will get on Friday. If you think you might get somewhere close to hwy n that evening I will try to meet on Friday, otherwise I just meet on Saturday.

Skygzr, I have tried the VIA and a couple other instant coffee brands. I am not a big fan of the instant I do however enjoy a cup of cowboy coffee every once in a while and as for the percolator, well it was more of a challenge then anything else. I am not sure I will take it on a trip as you mentioned it just adds weight and I have enough issues with carrying to much when I'm backpacking. My last two trips out I was an enormous 50+ lbs. (something has to go!)

,on a 30 mile hike I get at least 10 miles in around the campfire.

where do you think you will be camping on Friday night? I now have to be in chicago the full day Friday, which means I will drive down Friday late and night hike after you, or join you first thing saturday morning.
