    this is the reason i abandoned cuben in winter. the ice sticks to the mylar like glue - and as sharp as it is, it could likely punture the tarp like an icicle cutting ralphie's cheek.

    i tried shaking it, scraping it, brushing it.... could not bust the ice loose from my cuben tarp. different story with my sil superfly-- the stuff shakes right off it. winter trips, i want to spend less time de icing my tarp, and more time keeping warm. miles typically aren't huge once the snow flies out here, and if they are -- a pulk seems needed to trek into the deep snow.

    cuben, imho, shines in 3S when mileage and a light pack are paramount over keeping warm in the snow.
