So i have come up with a possible plan. I concure with Roche, tub springs would make a good base camp. We could then do a day hike to the lookout tower and on the next day we could go checkout te coal mines. For a three night or so trip i think that sounds good. Please let me know what you think of the plan thus far. If you have suggestions please let me know.

Hiking up to the lookout tower from Tub Springs would not be a day hike. It'd be a way to spend an hour or so at most. IMHO, that is. The distance is listed some place as four-tenths of a mile, but I don't think it's even that far.

I'm interested as well but will have to depend on dates because it's a pretty good haul for me.
