    TN>Frozen Head State Park> May 2013

I'm wanting to put together a hang in the Frozen Head State Park. I have checked and the capacity of the sites varies from 6 to 15 depending on the site. It is free to camp there, and I have yet to see an organized group hang happen in this area. I also would like to see the interest in a hang.

I could be interested. I've hiked once in Frozen Head and enjoyed it. For me it would probably have to be later in the spring.

I will keep an eye on this thread. It might be something I could go to as well.

I will see what I can do when you get the date nailed down.

    Thanks

    Thumbs up

I've led two Nashville Backpacker meetup hikes in and through Frozen Head in the past year. A great place! I might be interested in a return trip, especially if it involves the Mac Mtn trails (as I have not done them). But I'm iffy, so don't plan a trip around that! I'll keep an eye on the thread and my schedule.

    A suggestion.

Detail Man put together a family hang back in 2011. We had 6 adults, 5 kids and one pooch. Plenty of room at Judge Branch campsite; an easy .6 mile stroll from the trailhead which has restrooms / shower for boys and girls. The campsite is nestled beside a creek for the kids to play in. This would be a good basecamp to dayhike out of. Plenty of room for additional hangers.

For those looking to hike and hang, Tub Springs campsite is a good spot with the spring nearby. Another .4 mile (I think) takes you to the lookout tower at an elevation of 3,324'.

I like it. Thank you for the suggestion. Im welcome to suggestions seeing how i have never organized a hang or been to one. So suggestions and ideas from veteran hangers would be much appreciated lol
