Thanks Neo!! Thanks Chazmo!
Glad you decided to join us. Don't forget how much trial and error you had learning to tent camp comfortably (well, almost comfortably...you'll see what I mean AH - after hammock). Hammocks have a learning curve of their own...so if you have a problem getting comfortable or staying warm, come back here and explain your problem. Someone here has probably experienced it and solved it, or can at least offer suggestions. There's no reason to be uncomfortable, wet or cold.
But in the end, hammocks aren't for everybody. If it doesn't work out, I'm sure someone will take the hammock off your hands.
But most of all - welcome to the club!
“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” ~Judge Joseph Story

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
And to add to Just Jeff's comments: If your going from a tent to a hammock you'll probably be using a pad and a sleeping bag set up at first. There are numerous threads on here about getting in them and on them in a hammock. I highly recommend finding them and reading them. I nearly wiggled myself to death when I first got into hanging.
And again, welcome to the club
Hey Rockstar!!! Glad to see ya over in the hangin' crowd! From one pretty new hanger to a total newbie....you've just gotta try to make it to one of Ed Speer's hangout weekends or similar gathering. Neo is having one in TN coming up really soon. I went to one of these and hung my hammock the first time w/all the experts around to help me. My first night, I slept through breakfast and was hanging about 10 feet from the shores of the French River.
The next hangout by Ed is in Hot Springs, NC, April 13-14. I'm guestimating I'll have reached that neck of the woods by this weekend, so I'm hoping to be there. Seriously, learning this is worth it!
