I'm don't know about that...mine read with less that a half degree of difference to a mechanical thermo and the environment Canada station that is less then 20km from our Site. We hit -31*C.
It is reading exactly the same as my house thermostat right now on the same battery.

Same thing I use. It hangs from my pack strap while hiking and from my ridgeline while sleeping. Can't beat the price.

Been reading lots of reviews on that thermometer and the reports seem to swing drastically from side to side. Some say it does the job just fine and then others say it was off by as much as 10 degrees. Seems to be just as many bad reviews as good ones. Guess consistency is just not something to expect in cheaper products. Ill probably just go with a higher-end digital thermometer. Its worth the extra cost to me not to have to second guess its readings while out on the trail.

Well I just happen to be at walmart today buying some socks and shampoo and ended up seeing the AcuRite Thermometer for $5 and decided to go completely against what I said I was gonna do, and bought it. Thinking to myself the whole time that I was wasting my money because I am always the guy who buys the Lemon of the lot. Got home and set it up outside right beside my $50 weather.com Duel indoor/outdoor thermometer with all its bells and whistles. Well it reads the exact same temperature. Thank god I didnt get the lemon. Will know for sure over the next few days as the temps will be dropping to the low 30s.

It seems the inexpensive Accurite is the way to go because if you're out at -5 you'll need the extra cash for therapy!

I've had the Coghlans dangler for a few months now.. Seems pretty good, except its always 3° too high. Subtract that, and it seems pretty accurate otherwise, at least it is consistent.
