Suggestions for a lightweight "How cold did it get last night?" thermometer?

The topic pretty much says it all; I would like a device that I can consult in the morning to find out how cold it got the night before. What do you use?

    Thanks!

    -GFY

Note: I am not interested in carrying a mercury thermometer, however; my activities are sometimes *extremely* punishing to my gear, and I don't want the liability of something that breakable.

I've been using on of these, Accurite-Thermometer
I did crack the weather proof case of one when I dropped it in the parking lot of a trailhead, but for under 6 bucks, I just bought another.

Been looking for something like that myself. Have been considering something like this. It has a range of -58*F to 572*F, has a shock/drop proof rating up to 5',yet seems small and light. That company has a few different models I've been looking at.

I picked up a very small digital at walmart. Bios brand...works down to at least -31*c. 7 or 8 dollars.

I use a thermometer that has indoor/door functions with max and min functions. The outside sensor is connected via a wire which I attach to my suspension (outside of tarp) with a twist tie. Then main unit is then stored in a head end pocket on my bridge hammock or inside a pocket if it's really cold.

The range on my outside temperate goes to -50C, which I haven't had the opportunity to test the limits on yet. I found this unit on clearance at Home Depot for $5.00.

    Cheers

The thing to be aware of is that the battery on these usually quits around -5 F. That creates a problem for the all in one units at very cold temps... ;-)

    YUPP! ^^^

Cheap & effective. Just replace the suction cup with a binder, and yer good-to-go! When mine is packed up and not in use, I just unclip one side of the battery holder to disconnect it and save the battery.

This the one I want. I hung last summer, and I swear it was 523*.

I bought one of these, took it on one trip and it was terrible. Completely, wildly inaccurate. I know lots of guys like these so I thought I had a dud and planned on returning it... Until I got 4 or 5 miles from camp on day two and realized it was still hanging on a branch at camp. :
