Have you watched Shug's latest video about tarps? Perhaps it will answer some of your questions.

I did watch Shug's video. I'm looking for a walkthrough for a first time tarp user.

I've always been a fan of Ray Mears. Somebody on YouTube has an excerpt from one of his shows. He's who I've learned some things from.

That's what I have been doing wrong. It takes five people to set up a tarp.

Different tarps go up different ways, not to mention the various styles of pitches.. Baker's hut and such.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Tarp hanging ..... Step one: Tie ridgeline cordage between two trees with knots, wraps or use figure 9's. Step two: Stake out corners. Step three: Tweak tarp. Step four: Do it again and again until satisfied and confident. Practice. Have fun doing it. Step five: Hang hammock and nap.

Yep, that's pretty much it. Get's a little trickier in the wind, or if you need to get at least one side real close to the ground- or close the ends- in order to block the wind.
