    Good point. The failure resulted in a small pull about midway down on the hammock, but his leaning on it could have weakened it.

    Thanks again for the 411. I believe we might order the heavier (.742" POLES) ones for car camping/float rips and reserve the lighter ones for backpacking.
    This is much easier than going the ti route.

    Looking at the weights of the 0.742 vs 0.625". For 2x36" bars, it is only 1.35 oz more for the larger spreader bars. That is assuming the tips weighs about the same.
