Wondering how one could set up at the beach. We're probably vacationing in Florida this July- maybe near St. Augustine.
Fyi, Im not hammock experienced yet and Id have carry materials from home in Tenn to spot.
Pros/Cons?
Thanks,
John

A turtledog tripod stand would be simplest, I think, but I've also seen some pretty neat bushcraft-style stands using an upright post on each end and many lines staking the post out.

here's my plug... Handy hammock should work out well for that application.

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.

Every time these threads come up, I can't help but think about silica + nylon. ;c
Ok. Heres my idea gleaned from other peoples ideas.
2- 2" sched40 pvc poles at each end. They are supported by legs formed by a Y connector approximately 18" off the ground.
Each end pole is supprted by three guy lines.
Assemble hammock and tarp with appropriate suspension.
Willthis work on a beach?
Find some trees?
