    Yates Place Camp

A great big thank you to all the HF folks for the work they did to make for another fun week end in the woods. Too many to name all but some must be praised for the special good deeds I directly received. First Pappy Amos, Chuck, offered a great hammock and tarp for my third hanger. Otherwise I would have been hanging in the WM Equip. More on that later. Thanks to Firebird for first dibs on the cobbler. Ummmm good! Groundhog and Bonepile did a good job of getting me to the cobbler just as the lid came off.
And I cannot say enough about the hard work and planning by Miyanc. Awesome meal and weather protection. I don't know who is responsible for the shelters but A+ for that. A lot of people gathered wood but Miyanc did the Paul Bunion clone by pulling a monster tree through the woods with a rope.
All those who cooked, thank you.
My Son, Matt, had a great time as did Christie. More on Pappy Amos and his generosity, or my oversight. Christie did an afternoon test run and loved the comfort of the HH with my HG under quilt and top quilt. Now in hindsight, never let a first time hanger go to hammock after dark without supervision. She managed to remove the hammock from the under quilt when she got in. And yes, she was cold. She was able to wrap the top quilt around enough to at least make it til morning. I repeat, NEVER LET A FIRST TIME HANGER GET INTO A HAMMOCK AFTER DARK WITHOUT CHECKING IT OUT.
Just another great hang in the rain. Love it, love it, love it.

Yes Miyanc and others did a great job of setting up this hang. It seems like once we arrived there it was time to leave. Morning came fast. As always the food and deserts were excellent. Definitely enjoyed talking to the new people I met. I thought the Yates place had PLENTY of space for hanging. Thanks all.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

Sounds like it was a good trip... sorry I missed it. My wife got us involved in repainting our shutters this weekend. I also managed to clean up the leaves from the front and back yard. I am sore but the shutters look nice and it has stepped up the curb appeal.

I put my son in a hammock Saturday and of course took a moment or two to hang with him wishing I was able to be there this weekend.
