    Hole In My Hammock

Somehow I managed to get a hole, about the size the a pencil eraser, in the hammock bottom in between some of the folds close to the whipping. I seared to keep it from spreading but would like to reinforce it more. I have some matching fabric from Speer. Should I get some of the c3 tape and place a patch on both sides, use a patch and do a zigzag stitch over the hole or something else? I do not think this is a high stress area in the hammock fabric but it still bothers me. I get a little OCHD sometimes.

I just repaired a small hole in my tarp with Tear-Aid. Worked great!

Ask warbonnetguy what he used on my old ElDorado. It had a small 'hole' and he used a glue to apply the patch. The patch was right beneath my torso, so it took the bulk of my weight. It happened prior to my AT hike and lasted the full 6 months; still going strong.

I will PM him now and ask. I suspect it will be the c3 tape he mentioned in the questioned posted by Dutch about a rip in a quilt he was sewing. That pretty strong glue to hold up to stresses like that. Did he patch both sides for you or just one?

Just one side (I think). Haven't really looked at it in a while. I looked everyday for about 2 weeks until I decided I didn't need to worry about it.

    Ordered if from Campmor.
I patched both sides of the tarp following their instructions. Should be good for the life of the tarp. I'll wear it out before that patched rip will cause trouble.

For anybody facing a similar problem in the future, the c3 tape http://www.sailrite.com/Seamstick-1-...er-Tape-55-Yds is the way to go. Its some strong stuff once you get it worked in the fabric's fibers. I patched both sides of the hole and I suspect the hammock will wear out before the patches.

Glad you got it resolved. What did you have to do to get it worked in the fabric's fibers?

Heat a little with a iron then placed on a cutting board and rubbed it with the bottom of a spoon. It's more a ribbon of glue than tape. It does not have much structural integrity like tape until it is applied to the fabric.
