Hi Folks
How does one calculate the compression forces on the spreader bars of a bridge hammock?
I'm interested in designing, building and testing out a minimalist bridge hammock to see how light I can make one that is safe to use.

Grizzy Adams has created an ultralight bridge hammock and he even has a video about it! TeeDee and Grizz both have posts about the compression forces. Check their posts out.
Grizz Adams uses 80% and 83% percent of the length of the spreader bar to determine your length of the dogbones (amsteel triangle) as I studied all of his videos and postings and found him using either equation. Hope this helps. Spreader Bar length x 80% or 83%. I use the longer dogbone length measurement just to be safe.
