    Help with Hennessey suspension AGAIN!!!

I have arthritis or something and cannot do the Hennessey figure 8 with their webbing straps. I was reading some posts and had an idea. I have ENO Atlas straps and they work very will with my ENO's. I'm uncomfortable cutting into the end of the stock hammock and swapping out the suspension.

What I figured was, my wife could just take the Hennessey line coming out of the end of the hammock, tie a continuous loop and I could just use my Black Diamond carabiners to hook that to the Atlas straps. That way, I wouldn't damage the hammock in any way and could always untie the knots later and be back to square one.

Well, my wife tied two knots and I wound up on the ground twice!!! She says she did a square knot, but I could see it sliding down and dumping me. I'm not a knot person. Is there a knot that would work? Any solutions that don't require changing the stock hammock?

I love my Hennesseys, but this would make a preacher cuss!!!! As uncomfortable as my Warbonnet Traveller is, at least it doesn't dump me on the ground! Please help, or I'm going ENO 100%!!!!

A bowline would give you a fixed loop that will not slip.

Have you reviewed their video on lashing and knots? http://hennessyhammock.com/media/C37/#content

    Exactly what I was thinking.

Another good one, I've used it often, but might be harder to learn than the other one, seems to me. But, might be easier to untie after loaading if you had to.

And that was actually my 1st thought. Wondering what the trouble is with the HH lashing, seems to me it would be easier than either of the above, and always easy to undo. It requires no strength ( you don't have to pull it very tight) and little dexterity. I'm having a hard time picturing what would keep you from doing the HH lashing but would still allow you to tie a bowline of fig 8 bite? But there must be some reason why the HH fig 8 lashing is a no go for you?

Then again, you will have to tie it on each end every time you set up. With a biner through a fig 8 bite or bowline, that is a one time thing except for whatever you have to do for the tree straps.

Look up how to swap, its WAY easier than you think. I was the same way about my HH because I'm pretty much known for trashing good things without much effort. Waited and avoided it forever then when I finally did it, I could have kicked my own butt for not doing it sooner! There's info on YouTube, in The Ultimate Hang, and plenty here just go slow, you'll be amazed at how simple it is. You will regret not doing it when you finally do it.

I use a clove hitch with a stopper. I would never change out the stock suspension at the hammock end but I might cut off most of the excess.
    YMMV

I get what you say, You dont like knots! Well , try some rappelling descender rings and some carabiners and you can skip all the knot stuff. There are some videos to watch on You Tube under the "No knot suspension system " . Check them out ,I have fitted mine like this and I like the ease as to how you can put it up. For your tarp ,I really recommend you get some Figure Eight knot holders and learn how to figure these out. Its all a learning curve and my advice to you is , Just Do It!

My daughter (10) uses the stock rope still. She has a chain quick link on one end of her treestrap. Pass the rope down thru the link around itself anx back up thru the link. Easy to adjust length and holds enough to allow adjusting. A couple halhitches to lock and good to go.
