Ok guys, I've ordered a HH Explorer Zip.

I am just more comfortable knowing everything will work together. Of course, from reading these forums, I know it probably won't be long before I start making modifications and building a fleet.

Now, the worst part about shopping from the other side of the world (aside the shipping costs) - the wait.

Gday mate. Ghillieshot here, fellow aussy hanger. I live in Adelaide. Great to hear more aussies on here. I pm me if you want a hand with anything or any advice from a fellow aussy. I know how annoying shipping is. Anyway I need to get back to work. Cheers mate.

G'day from your next-door neighbours in New Zealand I'm new too.

FWIW, I've had nothing but good experiences so far ordering from the US. The cottage vendors have all been prompt and the gear is hand-made with painstaking attention to detail. I've dealt with Warbonnet (XLC BB, MJ tarp), Dutchware (clips and Stingerz), Hammock Gear (Incubator UQ) and Minibull Designs (BIOS stove) so far and gear has made its way to me in just over a week of shipping time. There's obviously sometimes a wait for production but that's what you get with hand-crafted stuff. Anyone from our neck of the woods should feel very comfortable ordering from any of the main vendors here. I think they depend very much on positive word of mouth, so the service and product seems far better than you'd get from a big chain. Not to mention most of them seem to be died-in-the-wool hammock fanatics

In case you do investigate Warbonnet hammocks at some point, note the difference between the BB and the XLC, which is longer and has a slightly different construction with a solid cover option. XLC may be better for a taller hanger (I'm 6'1") but I haven't really had the chance to test it out in practice yet. Reports on the forums have been overwhelmingly positive.

Howdy, Pawdna. Pay a visit to http://www.warbonnetoutdoors.com and get yourself a BlackBird Hammock - you can't go wrong there.
