    Thumbs up Introduce myself.

    Hello,

Well how to begin. My names Nathan - NaymaGodx - I'm a 19 year old from the UK, I've spent a lot of my childhood camping, building huts from sticks and generally having fun outdoors in the wilds. I've recently got in to the hammock camping scene, due to inspiration from others on YouTube, having seen that it was an alternative to tent camping. After reading in to the pro's and con's I decided the pro's far outweighed the cons and decided to purchase my first hammock - the Warbonnet traveler - quite a simple hammock with no bug net and just using an adjustable webbing strap system for ease of use.

Whilst in the process of switching my camping style I've started looking in to lightweight to ultralight camping. I'm not too sure what weight goes in to which category, but my base weight (no food/water) is about 16lbs/1.2st with my winter sleeping bag, obviously with a summer bag is even less and also includes one or two luxury items that I don't necessarily need per-say, but I'm trying to cut this down further either by getting new lighter weight gear or by making some things myself.

A little about myself: I'm a minimalist in the way that I live, I don't like to have a lot of things (For example the only things I own at the moment are as follows - Bed, desk, chair, gaming PC that I built myself, a speed-cube [Rubik's cube], a few clothes, hiking shoes, work shoes and a pair of trainers, and my camping gear.) and I find that this follows through to how my camping gear is set, I like not having a lot of unnecessary items and only bringing what I'll need and use. I like my speed-cube, after learning to complete a cube I'm forever trying to get a faster time with it! I also like piercings and tattoos, I have a fair amount of both - but I am employed! Haha.

So far the hammock community has been great, very helpful and eager to give advice to others and that's something I really love. So if anyone has any advice to give or if there are any hints&tips I can give to others that would help them then I'll be happy to share.

    My setup is as follows:
    Warbonnet Traveler w/adjustable webbing
    non-branded 3x3 diamond tarp
karrimor skido 65L bag(looking to reduce this to a smaller lighter bag as soon as I get a new summer sleeping bag as I've a lot of unused space! Although the bag only weighs a couple of lbs itself, which isn't bad!)
    opinel knife
Cooking - kfs set, 8.5in frying pan, tatonka mug, hexi stove
Small hatchet (just a cheap one for now, luxury as I don't usually need it, looking into a new one if I find more need for it)
    Glowstick
    Snugpak Zero sleeper sleeping bag
Vango compression pillow (one of my luxuries)
Clothes - Gelert thermal top and some army surplus longjohns as base layer then just normal clothes/raincoat on top
    osprey 3L water bladder.

Well thanks for reading all, hope you're all well and hanging nicely in the trees!

    Kind regards,

    Nathan - NaymaGodx.

Welcome from Canada. You may find you need some kind of under insulation like a pad. Hammocks can get cold even in warmer temps due to convective heat loss. A pad may also suit your outdoor style since it is good to have if you need to go to ground.

    Introduce myself.

    Welcome from Florida!
I wish that I had been as smart as you when young about hammocks, lightening my backpack, and keeping life simple.
