looks like me and the little lady are going to head out to fairfield this coming weekend. mainly to test gear and enjoy the Texas weather. Really any excuse to do nothing but hang out all weekend. so it also came to mind that it may be a good time to finally meet some of you amazing forum members. we are heading up their friday evening and staying till sunday, if anyone is interested.

Hmm...we are supposed to be going to Dinosaur Valley Friday night thru Saturday, but...I may have to talk with the wife and see what she says about changing our plans to get together.

My son and I might be able to make it out there. Crossing our fingers that the schedule will work.

The primitive area is a great first time backpacking option. The trail is less than three miles in and there is a flushing toilet and water spigot close to the campsites so if porcelain thrones are important, this place has it. There are trees for several hammocks but not near as dense as some of the car camp options.

Springfield is a water only section that has showers, plenty of trees and is a great place for hammocks. In fact that is the part of Fairfield where we have our annual fall group hang in November.

The park staff is great and the place is very hammock friendly.

My wife and I are up for whatever yall wanna do. We're no stranger to backpacking and we're also good with established sites. We're just out to fine tune our hammocks before our 5 day trip to the ouachita mountains next month.

We will probably grab a spot in the water only section, tempted to try the primitive, but will most likely go with water only in reserving a spot Thursday, so I'll give a heads up when I know where we will be

Sounds good. Whatever works for you guys works for us. We'll only be hanging one night, we'll head out around late morning saturday to get back home since we both work that night but it'll be good to meet some local hangers and get some ideas since my wife and I just started out.
