    Texas- motorcycle ride this summer...

I have no definite information... This is simply a fact finding exercise... How many people here ride motorcycles and would be willing to do a few days maximum 5-6 day trip... With backpacks and hanging at state parks or koa or some places like that... Not looking for hotel rooms every night, I just couldn't afford it although nothing is stopping you if ones close by... But why would you sleep in an icky hotel mattress when you have a hammock... Anyways just checking for interest before pursuing any further...

    Texas- motorcycle ride this summer...

Sounds good to me!! While I have not done a whole lotta backpacking in the past, (mainly car camping w/ my CubScouts) I am hoping to get some in this year. One moto trip that is a must for me this year is Big Bend. I would LOVE to be hangin' on that trip! However, I'm such the noob here, I need to get some more time in my DIY gear before I attempt that.

I'd be good for a 3 day, but more than that is going to be tough. Sounds like fun though. It's going to start getting hot real soon though.

Going on a quick over night this weekend, posted it up in another thread.
In the next month or so will be heading up to Ok & West Mo. around Mena and do some back road riding and Hainging. I tend to do 3-4 trips a year up there.
July will be going to Colorado and doing some of the jeep trails and gost town exploring in the mountans.

I dont care for hotels or motels, I would rather buy gas than rooms. In the past I have done lots of pavement trips and will keep doing some, but lately I have been doing more trips riding dirt roads and jeep trails.

It would be fun to do some camping haings with other riders. I dont care for large group rides, its not easy to find people that have the same riding style and pace.

Are you thinking of destination rides, or scenic rides, or pavement pounding and curve bending?

I am an on road guy... But I enjoy views and dragging pegs.. so either or works for me... Any suggestions... I haven't looked too much into it... I mainly do long day trips, and ride to a destination hang for a few days and ride back type events... As well as riding all year back and forth to work...

    Texas- motorcycle ride this summer...

I like doing overnight or 3 day trips. Heading up to Ok in the morning for a group ride. When the group does an overnight I usually stay in the hammock while they pay for hotel rooms.

I'd be interested in a weekend trip up to Mena, or magazine, or something of the likes. I don't do the dirt roads though, my bike prefers to be on the pavement

I enjoy riding the hill country this time of year. Mostly to take pictures of the wild flowers. There is some great riding all over the hill country, and one of my favorite stops is the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum in Vanderpool on 377.
As far as riding the sisters during the week is about the only time I can handle it. On the weekends there to full of roving roadblocks that can't hold a line in a curve, or stay on there own side of the road.
I am going to miss going to Llano with a group to the BMW Texas National Rally, I tipickly will haing right on the river. Maybe in a couple years it will come back there.
