Could have been the cross wind as it was really blowing.
I was actually camped out in the campsite South of the Pinchin Parking lot.
    Sure was a storm.
I was pitched with a simple diamond config with only one stake on each side. It was raining while I was setting up and I didn't want to take to time to do it right.

I will definitely run it through the hose test when I get a chance and see if seeps through. Might have just been the setup.

I mainly wanted to know if this is something that happens but apparently its just a possible user error which is a good thing in my book.

My CRL was run through the top loops so the tarp was hung under the ridgeline. Water wasn't coming from my lines.
I had a tight pitch but maybe too much open space that allowed for the wind to push the rain in.

I had a couple of Noah's Tarps in my gear box and tried one when I first started hammocking. It leaked like a seive and I had to abort a trip when my sleeping bag got very wet. I contacted Kelty and they said "send it in." I did, at my expense of course, and was surprised when I got it back with a note saying they wouldn't do anything because it was worn out from use. It had been used ONE time previously and was in perfect shape!

I stepped up to an OES MacCat Deluxe and a Arrowhead Equipment Toxaway and never looked back. No more cheap tarps for me....

It's amazing how some companies view customer service. Makes you appreciate cottage vendors so much more.

I'd still check your seams ... were/are they seam sealed? If not that probably contributed to it. But based on the storm we had that night and the site you were camped in ... I'm thinking a high percentage of what you experienced is from that wind blown rain.

Well that's not good to hear. I've used my tarp about 15 nights and this was the first in which it rained.

Hopefully the hose test will clear up if I got a bad product.

^^And to Hawk-eye, yea they are seam sealed.
Much nicer to wake up the next morning along the river watching kayakers in the snow

The winds blow UP in the Gorge. And a diamond tarp is minimal coverage in wind like I've seen there.
Although I started out with a Noah 9 I learned that pitching it very low & tight was key. Two tie outs to trees and two stakes just like you said you did it. But so low that the tarp points almost touch the ground.
