    Rain dripping through tarp

Took a trip to the Linville Gorge this weekend and had some issues with my tarp Monday night.
It rained for 9 hours straight with pretty decent wind gusts.
I have a Kelty Noah 9 and after about 4 hours, water started to seep through and drip all over my sleeping bag and my face. Wasn't fun.
Is there any specific reason for this and what could I do to prevent it? Thanks

could you determine if the drips were coming from a seam ?

Not necessarily, I slept on a diagonal and my entire profile got soaked.
The entire inside of the tarp was wet with droplets.

You might try the hose test on your tarp. May need a waterproofing application.

or, because of high humidity, since you didn't mention what kind of tarp, could it have been condensation?

I imagine if you had a tarp with doors and it was raining good with decent gusts of wind, they might have been closed and yo umight have been pitched low. These two things in really humid weather, which is about par for the course in NC, you can, as we called it in the Army, "Make it rain" just by nature of combined humidity of your breath and the air against your nice cool tarp.

It's a 9 foot diamond tarp that was pitched low but open.
I just can't figure out if this is normal for this tarp.
This was my tarps first true rain test thus far.

I'd start with a seam seal of your ridgeline. Most likely culprit. If it's got a lot of time in the sun you may want to see if your poly coating is weathering.

If you bought it new, I'd return it for a replacement. Sounds like you got a lemon. The Kelty Noahs are PU coated and taped already, so all you should have to do is put some lines on it and it is ready to go. If however you got it second hand, then you may need to reapply the DWR coating and either tape or seal the seams.

Another possibility ... not knowing how you had it pitched ... were you getting any wind blown rain? That could wet the underside of your tarp. Were you down in the Ditch or up along the ridge line ... sheltered or exposed?

did you have a drip line? How was it hung? Crl under or over? I have a noah 16 and it held up perfectly during 36 hours of rain but I had the doors deployed and it was staked to the ground so we had little cross wind.
