Well, Made this trip because a couple of others fell through (Dupuis WMA, Myakka State park) I can say I was very pleased, The site consists of an old Indian site and burial grounds. Didnt see any artifacts but the have informative posts at the sites. It made it interesting at least
Spent only one night out there and enjoyed that. I took my dog along for the adventure and am glad I did that! My camp would have been overrun by Coyotes, wild hogs, opossums and cows! Lola earned her keep and I was glad she was there!! Alot of wild life out there to see, saw a flock of turkeys as well as racoons also.
On a down note about the trail is the first mile or so was on a dirt road , until you finally reach the canopies. Very nice scenery and trail after that point. The whole loop was only 3 or so miles (I think) Fisheating Creek was very low , we are in dry season here and no fish were taken (Third trip with no luck) But it looked awesome! It was overwhelming to think Native Americans had been on this very land many, many, many centuries ago! The site also served as a Indian outpost before the Civil War began, hence the name.
All in all a nice enjoyable trip , Check it out if you have the chance.
