Gearing Up for Spring Trips

So been going on small hiking trips every weekend with few buddies to be ready for some spring Hike-n-Hangs. Wanted to make sure there was no issues with shoes or pack weight, so been doing 5 and 2.6 mile hikes. Was rainy this weekend and we got a late start so only did 2.6 miles. Took little under an hour with a few stops. Next weekend will try and do 5+ miles. Might just do an all morning hike and knock out 10 miles.

Tested out the GoPro mount again using time lapse and figured Id make a video out of it for the heck of it. Nothing special but here it is.

I really like your camera mount. Next we need a UL 'steadi-cam' for it. One that at least removes some of the 'jostle' of hiking. I haven't figured that out yet...

Yeah a UL steady cam would be awesome. I had bought all the parts to DIY my own steadicam but it wasnt using light materials. The problem with mixing UL with the steadicam is that its effectiveness is lost. It needs the weight to actually stabilize the camera. Only other way I have found to get around it is wiring up gyroscopes and you end up adding the weight back with batteries.

I'm just gonna have to either fix the camera shake via the video editing software or just deal with the weight of a steadicam. Probably go with the ladder.(software

You already have the weight needed for a steadycam....Look at all that stuff in your pack(hehe) and your food and water. Your welcome.

Now it's up to you on how to make it so......

Oh, sorry, thanks for the vid. Those Gopros are just great and so small. We have a lot of short trails around me, so thanks for the inspiration to get to them. A day hike is much better than none at all.

Good idea Floridahanger. Even a spare battery pack may make a nice weight.

lol..I just cant seem to give it up for the Internal frame packs. I know its about a pound heavier than internals but its just so much fun to use. I love mounting things all over it, which ends up making it even heavier. lol...Next, im gonna mount headlights..

...Already adding a stand to it so it will double as a backrest for a camp chair. Best $90 I ever spent.
