I have a giant roll of 2 inch cotton webbing that I know is an actual military product. It almost feels like canvas but is very pliable.

I know that cotton absorbs water, can mildew, not as strong as synthetic materials, and will degrade over time. But I was thinking of making some tree straps with this by taking two layers and sewing them together into one piece hoping to make it stronger.

I am unable to find specs of tensile strengths on the web. So I thought I might try it since the 1000 foot roll was free.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this idea?
