footbox drawcord storage / alternative method of cinching footbox?

Hey everyone, long-time lurker and first-time poster here! Thanks to many DIY guides here on HF, I recently made a 48"x80" down top quilt with Momentum 50. I opted for a drawcord closure and plastic snaps rather than a sewn footbox.

I'm perplexed about what to do with the 4 feet of dangling shock cord when the footbox is closed. I've been hanking it but I keep waking up with the cord wrapped around my ankles!

I'd love to do away with the cord altogether and find another way to close the footbox. I've considered plastic snaps along the foot end but I doubt they would close the footbox as tightly as the drawcord method. I've also thought of simply gathering and lightly whipping the end of the quilt when I want a footbox. Any other ideas?

I just bunch up the end and put a hair tie/pony tail holder around the bag when I want a closed foot box. That is easier than using the draw cord for me. Plus I always have a couple extra pony tail holders with me.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

Good idea, and certainly lighter than lugging 4 feet of shock cord and a cord lock! I've been a full-time hanger for about 6 weeks now so I will try this method tonight with a loop of shock cord, thanks!

Sew it up. I've never slept under a quilt w/o having a footbox closed - so I don't see the need for the drawcord.

Some like the option of laying it out flat, but my trips are short enough (a week or less) that I typically have a good idea of what temps to expect so I bring gear for the expected temps. Love the sewn footbox!

I decided against a sewn footbox from the start to allow for flexibility with using the quilt in other situations.

I tried Two Tent's idea of gathering the end of the quilt and using a small loop of shock cord to close it. Worked like a charm--I'll be going with this method for now!

I put a top quilt bottom quilt together today that I made the foot box a lace up with loops attached to four corners. Chanel ends with draw cords and loops for the lacing every 6 inches for two ft.
