Were/are you involved in scouts? Military?

Judging by the "what do you do for work" thread, I expect a lot of people came to hiking/camping through scouts. If I can figure out how to do a poll, I'll attach one to this post. If not, I'll delete it.

I am currently a Scoutmaster. Have been involved in scouting since 1970. Now have approx. 15 boys and 8 - 10 adults just hanging around. hope to double that through specialty Hammock Hangouts/Campouts. It's also catching on at the council level.

If you are younger than me, you were never subject to the draft, which was stopped the month after I was eligible. My birth date drew a high number in the lottery, so I was not called. Instead, I worked on an offshore tug with a Navy contract to help nuclear subs do secret things hundreds of miles out in the ocean.

Just found out our neighbors' son has been invited to be a Crew Leader on the 10 day, 100 mile backpacking trip at Philmont Scout Camp in New Mexico this summer!
