    Feet hanging out

So I decided to spend the night in my backyard, and I slept in my lite owl, underneath my tadpole. As I was laying there falling asleep, I felt water hitting my feet. I looked down and noticed that my feet were sticking out past the tarp. I'm a whole 5'10", and my hammock was hung properly. Anyone else have this problem? What are some solutions to fix this?

I don't really want to get a bigger tarp, let alone a new one. I was considering getting the grizz beak, or sending my tarp in to 2qzq and have them attach doors. I figure either of those will at least protect me, even if I don't get more room.

Sorry, but that isn't possible..... That tarp is plenty big enough...Especially hung correctly... Please elaborate..

Ok.. Sorry I see it is an 11footer.. Here is a pic of a tadpole swallowing my black bird.. Lots of room.. Perhaps move the tarp further towards your feet a bit? You could be shifting that way while sleeping? That tarp should still work imo.. btw...You can't go wrong with a 2qzq grizz beak.. They will be offering a cuben fiber one as well at 1.8 oz..

Something sounds like it may have been off. I am about your height and hung in a similar sized hammock with a smaller tarp and not that issue. Did you happen to slide forward in the night? Have done that before!

I've got a lite owl (11' hammock) and I've been through some really good storms with my tadpole and never got wet. You had something wrong. Maybe bring the tarp down closer to the hammock? Post some pics and let us see what's going on. The tadpole is plenty big for almost any situation you will run into.

    Re: Feet hanging out

Well that's what I was thinking. I slept under my tadpole in Florida during a thunderstorm, and stayed dry. I don't have any pictures though, Sorry. I called it quits at about 5am and brought the hammock in. I'm thinking I was sliding, because I could feel myself shifting slightly towards the foot end of the hammock. I did have my hammock ridgeline about 4"? maybe below my tarp. Usually the tarp is resting on the ridgeline. Does that make a difference? Also, should I have the tarp at a steep or wide angle?

The foot end of your hammock should be at least 6, even as much as 12 inches higher than the head end.. Most of us have our center of gravity above our middle, so we slide down toward the foot end if we don't hang it right...

Well, as was mentioned, you want your foot end higher than you head end (that will help with the sliding). If you are in a GTUL you really should have quite a bit of room under that tadpole. I'd suggest trying to be sure that your tarp is more centered over your hammock. Without pics it's kind of hard to say exactly, but if your feet were getting wet, it's most likely that something was out of whack.
