Assuming that your feet were still in the hammock & got wet anyway, that you have an orientation problem*. If (for example) you is hanging N - S & the wind is coming from the South (or even SE or SW) you got wet feet OR head depending on how you lay. When I had a smaller tarp I would hang as close to across the wind as possible & if not fully possible to do so, I would hang my hammock as close to the lee end of the tarp thereby allowing a bit of space to keep my feet (or head) dry.
As suggested, a larger tarp reduces that problem, & I got a HUGE tarp, so I don't get wet, almost regardless of orientation. Plus I can close either or both ends if need be. But my tarp ain't for everyone, so,,,,,

*You would have had issues anyway with a wet hammock. A rained on hammock usually means wet insulation.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.

    Re: Feet hanging out

Yeah sorry about not having pictures. Didn't really dawn on me to take any. I must have had my foot end to low. And come to think of it, the wind was blowing slightly at my feet. But now I know for next time. I am still considering getting the grizz beak, or attach doors. Which makes more sense? I know it's all personal preference, but just wondering what you all think.

We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

I've seen that link caveman. It's tempting. Might do that. But a part tent huh? Hmmm.....nothing like having a little extra room.

I would have to agree with the others. Sounds like you didn't have your foot end high enough, and more importantly, I don't think you had the tarp centered. Even if you slid down in the hammock, your feet shouldn't be sticking out past the tarp. If they were, then your hammock would have also been past the end to start with..........RR

    Re: Feet hanging out

Yeah i'm baffled too. Maybe I'll give it a couple more tries before I buy anything. Make sure things are correct. So ideally, how far should the tarp be above the hammock ridgeline?
