You mean like winter snow-camping in general or specifically sleeping on top of the snow in Betamid?

If you mean, specifically on the ground in the Betamid, it was alright. Betamid on snow is a common setup for snowcamping with XC skiers and snowshoers. I got enough sleep at night and only woke up to pee, roll around and shed layers when too warm.

I had a full length RidgeRest and 3/4 length ThermaRest underneath. A hammock with PeaPod and accessories would be more comfortable of course but this was an experiment to try out the Betamid in snow. I was surprisingly warm in the Betamid at night even when the heater was not on.

Had I been in a hammock, I would've had to wear more clothes to attain the same level of warmth, even with a Speer PeaPod and SB in a Speer Winter Tarp with hot water bottle. But again, as I was told on another thread on this forum, the hammock is more comfortable.

if you want some heat, look at kifaru's site, they have some nice lightweight, packable tent stoves that will work in a vestabule setup.

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked into Kifaru and Titanium Goat but I don't think they'd work in the wintertime western Washington woods because the wood is too wet now. Most firewood is almost soggy around here in the winter.
