I vote Blackbird. Because it has all those innovations that I love, that I could never sew into my diy.
WE HAVE A WINNER!
The winner of the 2013 Hammock Madness Championship is.....
DIY!
DIY....DIY......DIY!!!
The Blackbird was a valiant opponent, but the DIY fan base was just too strong.
Thanks for participating!
With beauty all around you, may you walk.
How a DIY could have won this is beyond me. Unless you DIY a Blackbird, which I have made a few, there just is no comparison. Even a DIY Blackbird isn't as good lol
I think it's unfair because the DIY can be whatever you want it to. The BB can't change (as much).
Chase your dreams without fear or hesitation!
This has been interesting. It's a credit to the enthusiasm of all the DIY folks, but I think it speaks volumes about the integrity of the cottage industries, too.
A few years ago a town near here was entered into a travel competition to select "the coolest small town in the USA". Voting was online, and what it created was a massive campaign by the local Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Board to "stuff the ballot box". Everyone was urged to vote as many times as possible. Competing towns did the same, I expect, but our local group won. This reflected some zeal and organizational ability, but it didn't give a fair measure of the opinions of tourists who have visited. (Though, it is a nice town, and visitors seem to like it.)
Our own March Madness could have been similar. It would have been very easy for gear makers to round up votes for their products, but sanity prevailed. I expect they were all too busy putting thought and energy into maintaining the quality of their goods and the satisfaction of their customers.
