Thanks a bunch guys, thats all really good input. Gives me a lot to think about and I know it will help me get ready for my first time swinging in the trees.

It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
Yeah buddy, got my MacCat Deluxe Tarp, tarp tensioners and snake skins in the mail today! When I ordered the tarp, the color choices were Stealth-Gray and Forest Brown. I could not decide what color i liked better so i did not specify. I thought it would be a fun surprise when it came in the mail and it was, Dark Green?!! Lol I kind of wanted Stealth-Gray but I am not picky, I like Green too!
For porch mode I’ve used both hiking poles and downed branches.
I have the Kelty tarp poles which I use to set up sun shade when car camping. They are excellent. I think they will be too big for hammock tarp and although not heavy I would go with trek poles or find a suitable piece of branch to use when backpacking.
Just remember with the stingerz you need enough line to come back to the biner. With the flyz you can adjust the hardware back or forward on the line as needed.
I did decide to go with the Tarp Flyz on 10ft Zing-it from DutchWare. They are slick! Got everything hooked up to the tarp yesterday and now only am waiting on my hammock to arrive from warbonnet. When it arrives I will have to take some picks of my setup for everyone to see. I think i am going to get hiking poles so they can pull double duty, any suggestions on quality poles that aren't too much? And is the twist lock or speed lock version more durable?
Thanks for the pics Gunny I like that setup!
Best advice, don't dump a bunch of money in new bling right out the box. Read, read, read first. Then Go out, set up your tarp, don't worry about how long, how short, what the best way is or high tech accessories yet. Tweek your set up using inexpensive materials. When you like your set up, then go for the bling.
Unlike the Advice I just gave, I dumped a couple of Bens on bling that's neat but I don't really love, And I only did it because someone said it was the Best , for them, but unfortunately not for me.
Hang your own hang, that's the best way!
