    Ikea Hammock

While strolling through Ikea tonight out of the corner of my eye I noticed a hammock stand. Walked over and sure enough was a metal pipe stand with a gathered end hammock attached. Hammock comes in blue or orange with a pretty heavy duty rope suspension.

Stand was $65 and the hammock $35.its called the Garo. Strangely I couldn't find it on the ikea website here in Canada. Will load some pics when I figure out how....

Yup Disco, thats the one. Weird that its on the US site, but not the Canadian one....

I hope these picture links work.

The stand and hammock seem to work really well so far.

The photo links don't open for me. From the catalog listings, both hammocks and the stand look very interesting for the price. Looking forward to your reports of comfort, and practicality for actually sleeping nightly. Thanks for the heads up.

Looking at the Ikea stand makes me wonder. If you replaced the bolts with snap buttons, would it work as a viable portable stand. Sizewise it is same size as a turtlelady stand that uses the 10.5 ft ridge pole. It is also a bit lighter than the Military Aluminum stands. From what I can figure the poles are approximately 4 ft long. Price is fairly reasonable. It also takes up a smaller foot print than the tripod stands.

I think I need to make a trip to Ikea to check one out. (shutters)

    Re: Ikea Hammock

Wonder how this would work with the camping hammocks we all love so dearly. I've tried mine on a backyard hammock stand for a spreader bar hammock. I bottomed out, due to to much sag.
