Tarp Set Up

What is the benefit to a continuous ridgeline for a tarp versus just attaching a line to the D ring on the tarp?

A little more stability in the tarp in higher winds and or with a snow load on it. Some folks also like to hang clothes or head lamp/mini lantern etc under their tarp.

For me, easier to adjust and center.

Biggest thing for me is adjustability. But I also use it to hang light things like a shirt or my ground pad I stand on (don't want it blowing away at night).

I tend to hang heavier things at the end of my hammock off the suspension line. If the wind comes up, I don't want heavy things swinging around over me.

I plan on getting a Wilderness Logics Tadpole tarp to use over a Warbonnet BB. Any preferred suspension for keeping light weight but also ease of use.

Maybe a continuous ridgeline is overdoing it?

I prefer continuous ridgeline for adjustability. If you think the additional ridgeline length is overdoing it, then you are in a different class of UL than me. You're talking a few grams of difference.

Adjustability and the ability to use Velcro cable ties as pseudo-snakeskins to hold my tarp(s) in a convenient bundle are the reasons that I use a CRL. Makes the tarp(s) easy to set up and break down.

I use a continuous, with a Dutch hook on one end and a flyz on the other..
1.75 lash it.. Also have 2 prussics (lash it) on it with a Dutch hook on each one.. Quick, strong, light.. Comes in handy to easily move the tarp back and forth.. Tadpole covers the bird well..

I use the continous set up from whoopieslings.com and like it. The hardware makes it ery easy to use, quick, and is light.

I use this setup that dejoha illustrates here https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=63271 it works great and for me it has the best parts of both crl and seperate lines for the tarp. The only thing I do different is I have the dutch hook larksheaded to the tarp so that I have nothing attached to the rl when it is unattached from the tarp.
